‘Know Your Rights’ under the U.S. Constitution, regardless of your immigration status
At Nu Alpha Kappa Fraternity, Inc. (NAK), we stand in solidarity with our brothers and communities who are impacted by immigration enforcement. NAK stands firm in its commitment to empowering and educating its members and communities on critical academic, social and cultural issues. In light of increasing concerns surrounding immigration enforcement, we encourage our members and communities to be informed and prepared regarding their legal rights under the U.S. Constitution — regardless of immigration status.
As a brotherhood founded on the pillars of academics, brotherhood, and culture, we believe that knowledge is power. Understanding your rights in encounters with immigration enforcement is essential to ensuring fair treatment and protection under the law. The following organizations and universities share more resources on this and related topics:
- American Civil Liberties Union’s Know Your Rights
- National Immigration Law Center’s Know Your Rights
- United We Dream
- National Employment Law Project
- Catholic Legal Immigration Network
- Informed Immigrant
- California: University of California Immigrant Legal Services Center and California State University Resources for Undocumented Students
- Nevada: University of Nevada, Reno and University of Nevada, Las Vegas
- Colorado: Colorado State University, Ft. Collins, University of Northern Colorado, Greeley, and Metropolitan State University of Denver
By knowing our rights, staying informed, participating actively and supporting one another, we have the opportunity to transform our brotherhood into one that is more resilient, innovative, and inclusive. For questions, feedback, or comments, please contact neb@nakinc.org.
