2021-2022 Nu Alpha Kappa Scholarships
The Nu Alpha Kappa National Alumni Association is proud to present the 5th annual NAK National Scholarships!
Since 2014, the National Alumni Association – along with the Tony Arreola Family Scholarship Endowment fund – has provided 13 academic scholarships to well-deserving NAK undergraduate and graduate brothers.
This collective work and success has been a catalyst to advance the educational opportunities for our NAK brothers.
Since the National Alumni Association was established in 2014, it has raised more than $170,000 in scholarship funds.

Submissions for the 2021-2022 scholarship will be open as of Wednesday, January 12, 2022. Deadline to submit your application is midnight Sunday, February 13, 2022.
The scholarships will be awarded on these dates:
- NAA National Scholarship will be awarded on February 26th at NAA’s Founders Ball.
- Arreola Family Award will be available later this year. More information to follow.
Nu Alpha Kappa Fraternity, Inc. will be offering one (1) to three (3) National Scholarships this year to deserving NAK brothers who upholds our pillars of Academics, Brotherhood, and Culture. An emphasis will be placed on those brothers who have demonstrated either strong financial need (such as being undocumented) and/or active involvement within NAK and their community. The amounts for these awards are to be announced soon.
In addition, the NAA is honored to award one (1) to three (3) Arreola Family Award for Student Excellence to one undergraduate or graduate Nu Alpha Kappa Fraternity Brother who displays outstanding academic achievement, leadership and contributions to society. The amounts for these awards are to be announced soon.
Any Nu Alpha Kappa collegiate brother in good standing with their chapter who is currently enrolled in full-time credits as an undergraduate, graduate or doctorate student at an accredited university is eligible to apply.

Scholarship Deadlines
One (1) to three (3) NAK National scholarships will be awarded at the NAA’s Founders Ball on February 26, 2022. Your application must be submitted by midnight Sunday, February 13, 2022.
Scholarship Eligibility Criteria and How to Apply
• Must be a full time undergraduate or graduate student at a university.
• Undergraduate and graduate brothers must have a minimum GPA of 3.0
• Must demonstrate a personal history of leadership and community involvement
• Must have a history and future plans to being active within NAK
• Must submit an unofficial transcript with the application
• It is not a requirement for brothers to be active to apply. Actives and non-active brothers will be considered.
• Must submit a résumé
Provide a personal statement (1000 words max) that addresses the following:
NAK Involvement: Describe your involvement as a NAK, how you uphold our 3 pillars, future career aspirations, and plans you envision for NAA both short and long term.
Challenging Circumstances:
Describe your personal background and any challenging family or personal circumstance (e.g., a disability or medication condition, a family deportation, serving as a caregiver for a younger sibling) that affected your achievement or participation in school, work, or community activities. Tell us what you did to overcome these circumstances and what you learned in the process.
Notification & Payment
• Applicants will be notified on or before February 20, 2022.
• The Award Ceremony will take place at the NAA’s Founders Ball on February 26, 2022.
• Payment will be made directly to the student by check in the mail.

Scholarship Deadlines

Nu Alpha Kappa Fraternity will award the Arreola Family Award for Student Excellence to one-to-three undergraduate or graduate Nu Alpha Kappa Fraternity Brothers who display outstanding academic achievement, leadership and contributions to society.
ARREOLA FAMILY AWARD
The Arreola Family Award is a gift made by the Arreola Family in honor of Marin F. Arreola and Carmen H. Arreola; the Grandfather and Grandmother of NAK Founding Fathers Antonio V. Arreola, Marin A. Arreola, Nicolas V. Arreola, Gabriel Z. Arreola, Enrique V. Arreola, Ricardo A. Arreola and NAK Brothers Manuel Z. Arreola, Alejandro V. Arreola, and Agustin V. Arreola.
The Arreola Family Award represents the core values of the Arreola family: Family, Ethics, Knowledge, Perseverance, Justice, Balance and Community Involvement.
The Arreola Family Award will be awarded to up to 3 students for the spring 2021 semester.
The award will be given to brothers that upholds Nu Alpha Kappa’s pillars of Academics, Brotherhood, and Culture. Consideration will be given to brothers who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership, and community volunteerism.
In addition, special attention will be given to those brothers that are from a rural community or have a family history in farming and/or are actively involved in NAK’s Executive Board. The Arreola Family Award is different than the NAK National scholarships in that the requirements are higher & the review process is more stringent.
SCHOLARSHIP DEADLINE
Your application must be submitted by midnight Friday, April 2, 2021.

• Undergraduate and graduate brothers must have a GPA of 3.2
• Must demonstrate a personal history of leadership and community involvement.
• Must have been active within NAK for at least one year

• It is not a requirement for brothers to be active to apply. Actives and non-active brothers will be considered.
• Must submit a résumé
Provide a supplemental personal statement (1,000 words max) that addresses the following:
1. Short Biography
2. List of volunteer/extracurricular activities and positions held.
3. How has NAK benefited from your service?
4. How has your college community benefited from your service?
5. How has the larger community benefited from your leadership and service?
6. How has volunteer service affected you? What have you learned?
7. Describe barriers, if any, you have had to overcome to obtain your college degree.
8. Do you consider your self a leader? Why or why not?
9. What are your educational goals and career interests after graduation and how will your occupation benefit society at large?
10. NAK Goals: What future plans do you envision for the NAA both short term and long term?
