Brothers of Nu Alpha Kappa, I am pleased to share a brief NAA update for 2021. As many of you know, we began the year with a fully staffed executive board, and an extremely successful and well attended NAK Con in February. We also began the year with a membership totaling 137 individual members, and three affiliate NAK alumni chapters. For the coming year we hope to grow our membership to 200 members, with as many as 10 affiliate chapters. If you haven’t already done so, please go to www.nakalumni.org, click on “Join the NAA,” and complete the intake information to become a member of the NAK Alumni Association.

I am also very pleased to announce the launching of NAK’s very own social media site which we have christened, KANnect. We are working to make KANnect the single, go to site for all NAK news and updates. With the support and participation of the wider NAK community, KANnect will evolve into the single site where NAKs can to stay current on all that is going on in our NAK world, and to interact with one another in the most direct, private medium possible. Looking for a NAK lawyer? Find one on KANnect. You say you need a NAK CPA? Again, find one on KANnect. Looking to relocate or simply buy your first home? You guessed it, KANnect! Right now KANnect comes free with your membership in the NAA, so becoming an NAA member will also help to build and support KANnect. kannect.nakalumni.org

The NAA executive board has been meeting regularly to provide the direction and leadership we believe will put the NAA on track for successful events in the future. And speaking of future events, the NAA executive board agreed at our last meeting to reschedule our Stakeholders Meeting to coincide with the upcoming NAK Alumni Softball Tournament, which will be held in Las Vegas on Saturday, July 24, 2021. We expect the Stakeholders Meeting to be a hybrid in-person and virtual meeting. Many executive board members plan in being in Las Vegas for the meeting as well as the tournament, but we know and appreciate that some on the board and many of you will not yet be ready to travel and interact in large groups due to the pandemic. We are committed to ensuring that this very important meeting is accessible to as many of our brothers as possible.

Lastly, the NAA will be holding elections in December for several executive board positions. While we began the year with a full board, we had on board member that had to bow out due to professional and family considerations. That board member is sorely missed. But because this vacancy occurred so close to our planned elections, we decided to hold the position open until December. Other positions that are being considered for election are CEO, Director of Membership, and Director of Planning and Marketing. A full list of positions that will be open will be made public at the above mentioned Stakeholders Meeting.

I have been asked to keep this update brief, so I will close for now. Thank you for taking the time to read about the NAA, and please don’t hesitate to contact me if I can provide any additional information.
